WEXHAM COURT PARISH COUNCIL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

COUNCILLOR HENRY EGAN

June 13th 2006

Since our last meeting in May 2006 I have the following matters to report:

1.      Local Access Forum: The Clerk and I attended a meeting of the Local Access Forum which was held at the Town Hall.  The forum is an independent body set up to discuss ways of improving access around the town for cyclists, pedestrians and horse-riders.  It also aims to promote new cycle routes, bridleways and safe walking routes, and to look at ways of protecting current rights of way.

2.      Mansel Close: I was contacted by a resident from Mansel Close regarding an incident involving children throwing stones at cars in the area.  I carried out some spot checks of the area with local Police and also visited the residents concerned.  It appears that the children responsible live in Mansel Close and I have arranged for our local Beat Officer to call on the residents and to patrol this area late at night.  To date no further reports of trouble have been received.

3.      Mayors Election: I attended the civic ceremony of the Mayor’s Election to Office with other members of our Parish Council.  I would like to congratulate Councillor David MacIssac on being elected as Mayor of Slough for the forthcoming municipal year.  In addition, I would also like to express my thanks to Councillor Khan for his hard work and efforts as Mayor during the past year.

4.      Norway Drive:  On my return from holiday I was contacted by a local resident regarding the vandalism of her own and her son’s cars.  It would appear that the cars were scratched during late evening sometime over the past week.  I have contacted our Beat Officer and asked him to call on the resident to discuss the problems.  The resident did not contact the Police at the time of the incident and I must stress that residents should always call the Police when incidents like this happen as the persons responsible for the damage may still be in the area.  There is very little that can be done a week after the event.  All crimes should be reported at the time they happen and a crime number should be obtained.  This helps the police focus on the areas where problems occur and they can help prevent any further incidents.
