WEXHAM COURT PARISH COUNCIL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

COUNCILLOR HENRY EGAN

May 9th 2006

Since our last meeting in April 2006 I have the following matters to report:

1.      Vehicles for Sale at Upton Lea shops: This is an ongoing battle and Slough Borough Council’s Enforcement Officers are continuing to monitor the situation.

2.      Tennis Courts: Once again there have been a few incidents involving inappropriate behaviour in the tennis courts; one involved youths playing cricket and another involved some children from the Players Club climbing over the fences.  These were dealt with by me.  There was also an issue with a resident taking dogs into the courts, and this was stopped by Cllr. Robert Aldridge.

3.      Police Action: I would like to thank PC Cerrig Shardlow for arranging for the Traffic Police to carry out spot checks on vehicles using Norway Drive.  Several checks were carried out including the use of seatbelts, mobile phones, and overloading of vehicles.  I understand that approximately 69 fines were issued on the day.  Further checks are planned during the next few weeks.  The Parish Hall and car park were made available to the Police for this operation.

4.      Parish Hall Renovations:  The decoration of the Main Hall is now complete and I have been assisting the Clerk with various other items that needed to be addressed.  The Parish Hall has now been designated as a non smoking facility.  There are still some additional works that are scheduled between now and July to complete the renovations.  I would like to thank the Clerk and the Members involved for their efforts.

5.      Residents Meeting: A meeting was held with the Parish Council and Slough Borough Council, which was requested by the residents from 58–68 Norway Drive, regarding parking issues.  Matt Davey attended the meeting on behalf of the Borough Council and Cllrs Hemming, Aldridge, MacIsaac, the Clerk, and I were there on behalf of the Parish.  It was noted that out of the six members of the public who turned up for this meeting, only one of them actually lived in Norway Drive; the others were people who just owned the properties or were representatives of property owners.  It was also noted that two of the properties were being used for multiple-occupation and that this was contributing to the parking issues.  Several alternatives were discussed and these would be considered.

6.      Parish Hall Car Park: The Clerk and I spent a morning sweeping the entire car park after youths had thrown mud and stones all over the area.  Two youths were caught in the act of throwing stones at the lights by our Clerk and needless to say they will not be doing that again.

7.      Wexham Nursery: I was called out to deal with some youths who had turned on the standpipes at the Nursery, wasting valuable water supplies.  I dealt with the problem and the youths.
