WEXHAM COURT PARISH COUNCIL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

COUNCILLOR HENRY EGAN

March 14th 2006

Since our last meeting in February 2006 I have the following matters to report:

1.      Vehicles for sale at Upton Lea shops: This is an ongoing issue which restricts the availability of parking space at our local shops, and particularly affects disabled customers who are unable to use the shops if they are prevented from parking nearby.  I continue to report the offending vehicles to Slough Borough Council’s Enforcement Officers on a regular basis with a view to resolving this problem.

2.      Preparation of tennis courts for new season: The Parish Council tennis courts have now been re-opened, and the nets have been reinstalled by myself and the Caretaker in readiness for the Spring season.  They are already in use by Wexham School and the City Tennis Club.

3.      Parish Hall garage: On Saturday, 4th March, myself and the Clerk oversaw the removal of the equipment stored at the Parish Hall garage by the recently disbanded Wexham Scouts Troupe.  The garage is now empty and will provide much-needed storage space.

4.      Damage to grass verges by vehicles: This continues to pose a major problem, despite the joint efforts of myself and the Clerk to deter the irresponsible individuals who repeatedly abuse the verges outside their homes.  Letters have been sent to several offending residents in the Norway Drive and Farm Crescent areas, many of whom have also received follow-up letters from the Borough Council Housing Officer.  This has gone some way towards resolving the issue, but there are still some stubborn residents against whom further action may be required.  We will continue to pursue this matter in our efforts to protect Wexham Court’s green spaces, many of which are currently being turned into mud-baths.  I would ask that you please notify the Clerk of any offending residents in your respective areas to whom a letter should be sent.

5.      Invitation to public meeting: Thames Valley Police have organised a public meeting, ‘Youth Activities – How Can You Help?’, which is taking place on the 17th March, 18:00-19:00, at Christ the Worker Church Centre, Parlaunt Road.  All Parish Council Members are welcome to attend.
