WEXHAM COURT PARISH COUNCIL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

COUNCILLOR HENRY EGAN

November 8th 2005

Since our last meeting in October I have the following matters to report:

1.      Parish Newsletter: I am pleased to report that the Parish Newsletter for the Autumn period has been completed and is now being distributed to all residents in the Parish.  I would like to thank the Clerk for preparing this and arranging the printing. Furthermore, I would like to thank all Council Members for their assistance in the delivery of the Newsletter which is done in their own time and at no additional cost.

2.      Remembrance Day: Councillor Davies and I will be attending the annual Remembrance Service at St Mary’s church in Slough.  During the service we will lay a wreath on behalf of the residents of Wexham Court Parish.

3.      Amenity Field: We have had a problem with local residents who seem to think they have a right to drive their 4x4 vehicles around the amenity field and the rear field.  The vehicles in question have been reported to the Police and I would like to remind everyone that there is a bylaw still in place that prohibits such activity.  Anyone seen carrying out such activities will be prosecuted.

4.      Mini Motorbikes: Although the use of such vehicles has reduced over the past few months it has been noted that there are still several in our area, mainly around Upton Lea, and it is expected that there will be an increase following Christmas.  Residents should note that these vehicles are not legal to ride on public footpaths or the highway and if caught will be prosecuted.

5.      Norway Drive Street Lamps: Following requests for additional lighting in the alleyways leading to Bells Close and Almons Way, SBC have seen fit to carry out a complete lamp-post replacement in Norway Drive.  We were not consulted about this and are not aware of how long it will take.  However, the replacement lights (although more suitable for motorways) are being installed and it is hoped that the improvement will be beneficial to all residents who use the road.

6.      Vandalism of Parish Hall: The Parish hall has been the target of some vandalism this month with further damage being caused to the lettering on the front of the hall.  The Clerk has arranged for the replacement of the plastic letters with metal ones and this should prevent further damage.

7.      Car Boot: Further complaints have been received.  It must be noted that the Car Boot is outside of the Parish Boundary and complaints should be addressed to Mayfair Communications who run The Park or, alternatively, residents should contact South Bucks District Council.
