WEXHAM COURT PARISH COUNCIL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

COUNCILLOR HENRY EGAN

February 2007

Since our last Full Meeting in December 2006 I have the following matters to report:

1.            Parish Hall: Vandals struck again and broke into the Notice Board outside the Parish Hall and destroyed the Clerks notices.  There was minimal damage caused and the Clerk has since replaced the notices.

2.            Wexham Bowls Club: Vandals broke into a storage shed at 02:45 on the 30th December 2006, smashing the door to pieces, and also smashed a patio door and a window of the clubhouse.  I assisted the Chairman and President of the club in securing the shed.

3.             Football Club (The Park): Just before the Bowls Club was vandalised, a Portacabin was set on fire at the football club and was burnt to the ground.  Since then there has been a further incident and a second Portacabin has been set on fire.

4.            Church Hall: On the same night as the attacks on the Football Club and the Bowls Club, vandals also attached the Church Hall, breaking all the external light fittings.  All incidents were reported to the Police.

5.            Overgrown Hedges:  After the Clerk and I constantly chased SBC regarding the hedge leading into Mansel Close, the hedge has finally been cut back and is no longer obstructing the footpath.

6.            Youths on Motor Bikes: Yes they are back!! On Sunday morning I was disturbed by the loud noise of a motor bike tearing around the amenity field.  I went over and tackled the two youths and asked them to leave pointing out to them the law.  They left without any argument and were tackled again by Cllr. Corps as they were leaving the field.  I don’t expect to see them again.

7.            Street Racing:    This is an ongoing problem, despite several recent arrests, and incidents continue to be reported to the Police.  These youths are driving at speeds in excess of 70mph and will eventually kill or be killed.  Please take the details of any vehicles seen speeding and report them straight to the Police.  Do not approach these individuals, just take details and report them, calling 999 if necessary.

8.            Planning Matters: I have been dealing with several residents’ queries regarding building works taking place either next door to them or in the same road.  Wexham Court is suffering from an increasing amount of extensions being build and quite a few of these are for the purpose of turning houses into multi-occupational dwellings.  The Parish Council has raised several objections to various planning applications but some are still being approved by SBC.

9.            Residents Meeting: Cllr. Davies and I attended a meeting with several residents at Wexham Post Office to discuss the issues of parking in the Post Office lay-by.  Several options have been discussed and SBC are now in the process of introducing waiting restrictions on either side of the road.  Work has now commenced and should be completed shortly.

10.        Cycle Paths: Works have now started on the construction of cycle paths along Wexham Road.  The work is planned to take several months, so there will be quite a bit of disruption for a while.

11.        Roundabout works: Work is due to commence on the new road layout at the junction of Wexham Road and Knolton Way.  This includes the construction of a new roundabout and residents can expect major disruption during this time.
