WEXHAM COURT PARISH COUNCIL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

COUNCILLOR HENRY EGAN

Aug - Sept 2005

Since our last meeting in July 2005 I have the following matters to report:

  1. Tennis Courts:  Since the 15th June I have been chasing SBC to provide a litter bin for the tennis court area and have now been promised that this will be in place before our next meeting.  This is the one and only contribution that SBC have offered towards our courts despite the fact that they, along with the LTA, are advertising that they had a large role to play with the starting of the City Tennis Club.  Without the use of our courts, this project would not have got off the ground.

  1. Bowls Club Charity Day: Wexham Bowls Club held its annual Charity Day on Bank Holiday Monday. I participated in the event, along with my son Christopher, and I presented a £50 donation on behalf of the Parish Council and the residents of Wexham Court Parish.  The weather was very hot but, despite this, the day was well supported by members of the Bowls Club and their families and over £500 was raised.  The winning bowler, Mrs Pauline Vass, chose the Heart Foundation as her nominated Charity.  Cllr. MacIsaac (Deputy Mayor) could not attend due to another commitment, but made a personal donation which was added to the money raised.

  1. Policing: There has been a welcomed effort by the Police over the last six weeks and the new Beat Officer has made a huge impression around the Parish.  I have received several reports from residents who are all pleased to see a Police Officer back on the beat.  In addition there has been a big reduction in the amount of mini-motorbike incidents around the estate and this has been due to the new Beat Officer and Members of the Parish Council.  I have not received any further reports about car vandalism of late, and this also seems to be on the decline.

  1. Allotments: The allotments are being well managed by Mr and Mrs Gale with the assistance of The Clerk.  All the plots have now been rented following additional work carried out by the Council.  All vacant plots were rotavated and cleared by the Parish Council and the front garden plot is now being tended by one of the allotment holders.  I would like to thank Mr & Mrs Gale and The Clerk for their efforts.

  1. Barriers for Alleyways: I made an enquiry with SBC regarding the possibility of placing some walk around barriers at either end of the alleyways leading from Bells Close and Almons Way.  SBC have now requested quotes for the work and will update me on the progress in the near future.

  1. Parish Council Clerk: Dianne was taken very ill during the middle of June and has undergone a number of operations since that time.  She is well on the road to recovery now and I would like to say thank you to all who sent well wishes and flowers.  In addition, I would also like to thank our Caretaking staff for coping during Dianne’s incapacity and keeping the hall running smoothly.  Furthermore, I would also like to say a personal thank you to Cllrs Dave Davies and David MacIsaac for their personal support during the past few months.
