50. PARISH COUNCIL VACANCY
The Chairman introduced Miss Dianne Walker, a local resident who had come forward to fill a previous vacancy and had now confirmed that she would still welcome the opportunity to serve the residents of Wexham. Miss Walker was invited to address the Council and a brief discussion followed.
The co-option of Miss Walker was subsequently proposed and seconded, and unanimously agreed. Miss Walker signed a Declaration of Acceptance of Office and the Clerk and Chairman welcomed her as a Member of WCPC.
RESOLVED: That Miss Dianne Walker be co-opted as a Member of Wexham Court Parish Council for the remainder of the current electoral period.
51. AMENDMENT OF COUNCIL’S STANDING ORDERS TO INCLUDE THE CHAIRMAN’S JEWEL
The Chairman’s Jewel had now been purchased and Councillor Davies thanked the Borough Councillors, who had provided the funding for this item. It was formally proposed that the Standing Orders be amended to include the Jewel and, in accordance with Standing Orders Item No. 76, this variation was adjourned to the next meeting of the Council.
RESOLVED: That the Council’s Standing Orders be amended following discussion at the next meeting of Council, Item No. 73 to be replaced as follows with all consecutive items being renumbered:
73. The Chairman’s Jewel
The Chairman’s Jewel shall remain the property of the residents of Wexham Court Parish Council and shall remain in the safe custody of the Clerk at all times, except when being worn by the Chairman for official duties or events.
52. PURCHASE OF NOTICE BOARD FOR MAIN HALL LANDING
The Chairman clarified that a lockable notice board was required to enable posting of the new Fire Safety Regulations Notices on the first floor of the Parish Hall. A suitable item could be obtained at a cost of £210+VAT.
The necessary Fire Risk Assessments had been carried out and a meeting had been arranged with the Fire Safety Officer, which would be attended by the Chairman, Councillor Davies, and the Clerk, to ensure that the documents produced by the Chairman were sufficient to meet full compliance with the Fire Authority’s requirements. The Clerk was asked to record the Council’s formal thanks and congratulations to the Chairman and Councillor Davies for their work on this project. It was noted that the sum of £150 minimum had been saved against the cost of obtaining the documents from an external source.
RESOLVED: That the sum of £210+VAT be approved for the purchase of a lockable notice board for the first floor landing of the Parish Hall.
The Meeting closed at 7.50 p.m.
