Bee enthusiast relocates threatened bumblebees

Bumblebees are beautiful and hard working creatures. Their bright stripes and gentle buzz bring colour and sound to our summer gardens. They are also very important because they pollinate our wild flowers and crops. In the last 70 years two species have become nationally extinct, and others are seriously threatened. The UK currently has 24 species, several of which are in severe decline.
Beekeeper
Robin Roberts has a keen interest in bee conservation and in June 2010 he kindly assisted the Parish Council in
relocating a bumblebee nest at our allotment site (accompanied by his trainee
grandson). The nest came under threat due to ground-works that were taking
place for a replacement fencing project, and the Chairman arranged for them to
be moved rather than risk the possibility of the nest being damaged or
destroyed.

If you need expert assistance in dealing with a bumblebee problem, Robin can be contacted on 07950 314514 and his charges are very reasonable.
